Suggested Times

  • a Saturday, one-day Spiritual Reflection Day at the Parish or a Retreat Center

  • Weedends

  • Week nights

Structure

  • Theme (selected by the Pastor or group attending) presented through

  • Teaching on texts of selected hymns

  • Holy Scripture as found in the hymns and supporting the selected theme

  • Readings from the Saints and other Catholic resources

  • A study of the life and spirituality of a composer

  • Incorporating the hymns studied and used for reflection during Mass, the Liturgy of the Hours, and before each session

  • Use of original compositions for reflection and teaching

For Youth Groups

6th-8th

and

9th-12th Grades

Times to be suggested by the Youth Director as best for each group

Structure

  • Theme selected by Pastor, Youth Director, and/or Youth Group

  • Use of Catholic Church Hymns, Contemporary Christian Rock Songs, and current Secular Music for discussions and exploring the Faith of young people in the 21st Century

  • Use of “movie snippets” as springboards for discussion and reflection

  • Incorporate the hymns and songs studied and using them during worship and before each session.

  • Encourage any and all musicians to bring any and all instruments.
